POSTCARD: WATERFALL, 'TO MY DEAR WIFE'

1931
Overview

Vertical postcard with a colourised photograph of a small winding waterfall, which flows gently over rocks. There is a poem in a white frame at the top in curly font which reads: 'Dearest partner of my life, / Here I send a greeting, / That all luck and hapiness, / This Birthday you'll be meeting.' Below in larger white text reads: 'To my Dear Wife' with two decorative underlines. The card has a white decorative floral border.

The card is addressed 'To my dear wife on her 44th Birthday 14 Oct / 1931'. Sent by Mr Jim Dennis to his wife Lillian for her 44th birthday.

The reverse has a handwritten poem in black cursive writing which reads: 'No in our Home to you I turn, / You gladden still my loving eyes, / and give me love; and so I learn / that here on Earth is my Paradise. / The shortening years shall come and go, / and fortune's tide shall ebb & flow; / But you make sweet the years to be, / and no truer friend I'll ever see. / and so its settled evenly, / I love you as much as you do me'.
