POSTCARD: 'WEDDING BELLS', FLOWERS, BELLS, AND POEM
1900 - 1960Horizontal postcard with a black background and thin white border. At the bottom in grayscale three-dimensional block lettering, with a reflected shadow, reads: 'WEDDING BELLS'. Extending upward from either end are two collumns of multi-coloured flowers. Between these is a landscape grayscaleimage of a lake-side cabin under the clouded moonlight. The flora in the image has been colourised in green. The image has a white border. Next to the top left corner of the iomafe is six cartoon bells with green bows.
Below the image, in white type is a poem which reads: 'For love you are married / In love may you live, / 'Tis the nearest to heaven / That life has to give/'
The reverse appears to have been previosuly pasted (perhaps into an album). The remaning card obscures majority of the surface, including the handwritten message. The words which can be made out are 'Jim' / ' your love'. Presumably sent my Mr Jim Dennis, perhaps to his wife Lillian Dennis for their wedding.
