NEGATIVE IMAGES X 11, TOODYAY PUBLICITY

Overview

A set of seven negative strips, comprising 11 individual images of Toodyay (colour) taken for publicity and advertising. Each negative is approximately 35 mm x 65 mm in size.
Images include the Avon River, canoes during Avon descent, Newcastle Gaol Museum, Connor's Mill while in use as tourist centre, wildflowers, Windmill Hill cutting, Newgain granary and Ringa Rail Bridge.
The negatives appear to be in good condition, although they have slightly yellowed over time.

Historical information

The negatives were found in the archive storage room, in a cardboard box labelled Unaccessioned Photos - to sort.The negatives were found in an envelope labelled "Toodyay Tourist" and "Colour Internegs".
It is unknown how these negatives came to be grouped together in the Museum Workshop.

In terms of intellectual property, the original owner of these images is unknown but it is assumed that they were taken with the intent of advertising Toodyay. It is therefore assumed that these photos are intended to be kept for research or display.

Statement of significance

The value of the items considered for accession lies in their research value as a visual record of Toodyays historic buildings. The buildings can be roughly dated to the 1980s.
