Overview

Album relating to the Landcare Environment Action Programme (LEAP) of 1993, where 16 young adults were formed into a Shire development group via a State program. This group then worked on various community projects for the remainder of the year.
The album has photos and newspaper clippings covering the activities of the group, including team-building exercises at a bush camp, restoration work at Butterly House, Connors Mill, the Railway Station ramp, Duidgee Park, the Toodyay Miniature Railway, the Alma Beard Medical Centre and the aftermath of the District High School fire
The album contains 107 photos (a mix of kodak & polaroid), newspaper clippings, a list of those involved in the project & handwritten essay by LEAP member Odette Brown.
The photo themselves are slightly faded but in otherwise excellent condition

Historical information

The LEAP program was run in Toodyay by the Shire Council, although it is unclear when the album recording the program was then stored in the Museum Workshops.

The value of the item considered for accession lies its research value as a visual record of the development of several Toodyay landmarks, especially heritage places such as Butterly House and Connors Mill. This album also has some social value in recording the personal experiences and actions of a local group during a securely dated period. This item is considered to be of local significance.
