First World War Black and White Photograph of Cattle Captured at Beersheba

1915 - 1919
Overview

A small black and white photograph showing mounted Light Horse troopers driving a group of cattle towards what may be a camp where other horses appear to be grouped. Walking a small distance behind the troopers is the herdsman. The terrain is bare. The image has several blemishes that appear to be from the development process and the group on the lefthand side of the image are very out of focus. The reverse of the image has the proforma printing of part of a postcard and an inscription. The photograph has a small border and overall is in good condition

Historical information

Troopers ration generally included tinned meat so any opportunity to have fresh meat was greatly appreciated.
