First World War Black and White Photograph of Farming in Palestine

1915 - 1919
Overview

A small black and white photograph showing 2 mounted Light Horse troopers with a Palestinian farmer. The man is ploughing a field using a mule and a bullock to pull a simple u-shaped plough. There is a post attached to the necks of the two animals who are walking side by side with the plough between them. The plough is creating small channels a few centimeters deep. One of the troopers is riding alongside the plough, while the other is watching from the side. The farmer is wearing traditional head gear and holds a long thin stick in his left hand. The reverse of the image has the proforma printing of part of a postcard and an inscription. The photograph has a small border and is in good condition.
