Fremantle Braves Night Baseball Club circular enamelled badge. Outer circle is red, inner circle is light blue. In the centre in red is an American Indian wearing a feathered headdress.

Historical information

The Night Baseball League was formed in Perth in 1954, with games being played at the newly flood-lit West Australian Cricket Ground. Three pylons were introduced to the WACA Ground, where six teams competed on a district basis. They were Fremantle (The Braves), Wembley (The Magpies), West Perth (The Indians), Perth (The Tigers), Southern Districts (The Cubs) and Swan Districts (The Angels).

Contextual Information

This Fremantle Braves Night Baseball Club badge was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by Barry Connaughton who played in the Night Baseball League in Western Australia in the 1950s. He also played for Nedlands Baseball Club in the West Australian Baseball League. In 1956 Barry was selected in the Western Australian state baseball team that competed in the Claxton Shield Championship in Adelaide, South Australia.
