Victoria Park Baseball Club Annual Report 1980/81

Overview

The 1980/81 Victoria Park Baseball Club Annual Report is a 72-page, quarto-size document with the internal pages printed on various-coloured paper. The front and back covers are of textured, cream-coloured, lightweight card. The document was originally bound with red book-binding tape; this has been over-bound with black book-binding tape. Text on the front cover is in black or red. Intersecting horizontal and vertical black and red lines border the text on two sides. Intersecting the two vertical lines is the Club logo of a green laurel wreath around a caricature of a baseballer, in a black and red uniform, pitching a baseball.
Hand-written in the top right-hand corner, in blue ink, is the name of the owner of the document. Below that, written in black ink, is the year of the report.

Historical information

Established in 1935, the Victoria Park Baseball Club is one of the oldest baseball clubs in Australia.
This report of the Club's 1980/81 season highlights their winning the W.A. Baseball League Premiership Cup and the Australian/American Premiership Cup. It was the last season that games were played at their home ground, Forster Park, before a move to the newly built Parry Field the following season.

Contextual Information

The report is a valuable source of information in the development of the Club over a 12-month period. This copy of the report belonged to Rose Corker who, in the 1980/81 season was the Club Hon. Treasurer and League Grade scorer. Rose, already a Life Member of the Club, was awarded Life Membership of the West Australian Baseball League in 1989.
The document was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by the Corker family.

Statement of significance

The annual report is a valuable record of club activities, including senior and junior baseball, teeball and softball, award winners, player statistics and financials. It is complete, in good condition and has good provenance.
