A copy of an original black and white photograph of the 1937 season 'B1' Grade Bristile Baseball Club Team.
Western Australia's first premiership baseball season opened in May 1936 with 21 teams affiliated to the West Australian Baseball League in three divisions. Eight of the 13 clubs entered, maintained a second team.
Six teams comprised the first division: Ramblers, Blue Sox, Wests, Nedlands, Mosmans and Victoria Park. The second division comprised seven teams: Burleys, Bristile, Ammas, Railways, Boans, Midland and Mt Lawley. The third division was comprised of the remaining eight teams: Railways No. 2, Burleys No. 2, Midland No. 2, Blue Sox No. 2, Bristile No. 2, Ramblers No. 2, Wests' Tigers and Mosmans No. 2
The Belmont Road Board had granted the Bristile Baseball Club permission to use Hardy Park on Saturdays and Sundays. Both of the Club's teams played their initial league matches at Hardy Park - the 'C' Division team against Ramblers on Saturday, 2nd May and the 'B' Division team against Burley on Sunday, 3rd May.
