An article titled "The NAMPUP LINE OFFICIALLY OPENED" records the date of opening as the 17th Apr 1912 by the Premier Mr Scadan opened the line.
Official Opening of Katanning to Nampup Railway Line
1912A sepia photograph of a train and carriages, officials standing on the front of the train and a large crowd of people gathered around the train. The men are all dressed in hats, suits and ties, the women are dressed in long sleeved blouses and long skirts.
The railway line from Katanning to Nampup (now Nyabing) was opened on the 17/04/1912 and the Pingrup line was opened on the 27/10/1923.

On the left hand side of the photograph in black typed lettering is "H.C.BILTOFT & CO." and then in the centre "IDEAL STUDIO (Late of Boulder City)" and then "WEST AUSTRALIA".
On the back of the photograph at the top handwritten in pencil is "1911 Opening of Nyabing Line" and then "Opened by Mrs J.C. Warren at Nyabing". Below this line handwritten in pencil is "17/4/1912 Nyabing" and below this "27/10/1923 Pingerup"
