A sepia photograph of a train that is packed with people, stopped at a rural train station and a group of men standing near the front of the train engine. On the train engine is a white banner which reads 'ALBANY'. This photograph is surrounded by a cream paper border and then adhered to fine green embossed cardboard.

Historical information

This one day picnic was proposed by Alex Thomson M.L.A.. First estimated might require four coaches, ended with ten coaches packed and double headed engine. The train had a stop over at Broomehill. L-R:- TL Richardson, Bruce Reid, Hewson, JJ ?, JL Cullins, A Thomson. The photograph was taken at Broomehill railway station.

Inscriptions and markings

Below the photograph hand written in black ink is '1st Katanning Day 1914 R.L. Richardson Bruce Reid Hewson JJ ? J L. Cullus A Thomson' and then followed by 'Photo at Broomehill'.

In the bottom right hand corner on the mount in gold lettering is typed 'H. C. BILTOFT, IDEAL STUDIO, KATANNING WES AUS'

On the back of the photograph hand written in pencil is 'This one day picnic was proposed by Alex Thomson M.L.A.. First estimated might require four coaches, ended with ten coaches packed and double headed engine.'
