Tie pin/lapel brooch made with Australian Military Forces button
Tie pin/lapel brooch made with an Australian Military Forces button attached to a horizontal metal bar.
The button features a central map of Australia, above which is a depiction of the King's Crown. The words 'Australian Military Forces' appear in raised lettering around the lower circumference.
The metal bar appears to be made from brass which has been painted silver, with some of the silver having worn off over time.
The reverse has a flat piece of metal attached to the back of the button to which the metal bar is soldered.
There is a pin clasp extending along the length of the bar for attachment. There are no maker's marks.
Many military badges and insignia were converted into jewellery such as brooches, pendants, lockets and earrings to be gifted to loved ones as keepsakes.
