Miniature brass rifle with bayonet and sling
Miniature brass rifle with bayonet and sling. The main section of the rifle and bayonet appears to be made from cast brass. There is a circular hole where the trigger would be positioned.
A thin strip of silver coloured, flat metal wire has been soldered to the rifle butt and extends approximately two-thirds of the way along the barrel.
There is no maker's mark, nor brooch or pin for attachment.
The purpose of this miniature rifle is unknown. It appears to be hand made, perhaps as trench art. It may have been made to attach to a display item such as a figurine, or worn as a brooch, despite there being no visibile fittings.
