British Army General Service sweetheart brooch
Gilded brass sweetheart brooch or tie/lapel pin featuring a British Army General Service Corps button attached to a decorative gilded bar with floral motifs.
The button is embossed with the Royal Coat of Arms - a lion and unicorn supporting a shield with a garter, surmounted by a crown.
It bears the Order of the Garter motto, 'Honi soit qui mal y pense' around the central shield and the the monarch's motto, 'Dieu et mon droit' across the bottom on a scroll.
The General Service Corps (GSC) is a corps of the British Army. Its main function is to act as a holding unit for specialists who have not been assigned to other units or corps; these are primarily reservists and the GSC is usually only active in wartime. Its members are on the General List or Special List.
