PHOTOGRAPH: TEARING OUT THE TRAMLINES, ROKEBY ROAD, 1958/1959
The black and white photograph features in the centre of the image a vehicle with a crane attached in the process of ripping a tram line out of the road.
The surface of the road is broken up and two workers stand watching at the left hand side of the image and two more can be seen at the right.
A shop on the corner of Rokeby Road and Barker Road advertises Yalumba wines. Next door the shop is called 'Karen's' and a tailor next door to that.
On the other side of Barker Road is a butcher shop, and the full tower of Subiaco Hotel can be seen in the distance. Museum holds a copy of original photo only.
