WWI celluloid doll - 'A Dinkum Boy'
c. 1915WWI era kewpie style doll made from moulded celluloid. The figure appears to have small wings. It is wearing an Australian Imperial Forces peaked cap with Rising Sun badge. It has a large blue ribbon tied around its middle which protects its modesty from the front, but the cheeks of its bottom are peeking out from the back. It has a bandolier across one shoulder and appears to be holding the remnants of what was likely to have been a rifle. It has brown coloured military boots.
Due to age, the celluloid has cracked in some places.
Little is known about this character. The same figure appears on a 1919 dated calendar in the collection where it is described as 'A Dinkum Boy'.
