1919 dated calendar featuring 'A Dinkum Boy'
c. 1918WWI era cardboard stand featuring the image of 'A Dinkum Boy' - a kewpie-style doll dressed as an Australian Imperials Forces soldier. He is wearing a khaki peaked cap with a golden Rising Sun badge, and leather look brown bandolier and leggings. A strategically placed calendar protects his modesty. He is saluting. The calendar is made from brown paper and features an image of a field gun. The inner leaves are cream in colour with black figures and a red border.
The triangular shaped cardboard base supports the figure when the two outside points are pushed backwards. The calendar is attached to the cardboard with metal staples.
Little is known about this character. The same figure appears in the form of a celluloid doll in the collection.
