Overview

Colourful hand embroidered off white waistcoat was bought by the donor as part of a community project in Bangladesh, empowering women and helping them to become self-sufficient.

The embroidery, silk thread on cotton fabric, is predominantly running stitch, traditional Kantha embroidery technique of the region. The motifs are symbolic to the country – butterfly symbolises marriage, kalka (paisley shape) of Persian and Kashmiri origin symbol of life, fertility and eternity. The colours, green = peace and nature: orange = energy and heat.

Fully lined with cotton fabric.
