Overview

A sandwich doyley hand embroidered with an unusual Solomon’s knot crochet edging, made in Western Australia in mid 20th C. In this period, household table linen included different shaped doyleys for different purposes.

Bullion roses are embroidered at each end with stranded cotton on a linen fabric. Hand crochet edging.

Hand embroidery and crochet were popular pastimes in mid 20th century showcasing the skills of the lady of the house and adding attractive décor to the home.
