Overview

Predominantly blue coloured tin decorated with a blue vase of colorful flowers on the lid. The sides are decorated with a stylized wattle pattern in blue and cream. The flowers represented are carnations, poppies, delphiniums, roses and daisies. The tin shows signs of wear including minor dents, scratches and rust.

Historical information

Used to store an extensive collection of postcards received by Vera VERGE from her sweetheart Private Edward Charles MOUCHEMORE 6351 who served with the 28th Battalion during the First World War. They met in Albany while attending the same school. Edward was killed in action at Bullecourt, France on 3 October 1918 at the age of 22. The collection was kept by Vera throughout her life and donated to the Princess Royal Fortress by a family member in 2019.
