Overview

A Western Australian State baseball team warm-up jacket. The body of the jacket is black nylon fabric, with two side pockets incorporated into the front panels. Yellow metal press studs secure the front opening. The raglan sleeves are yellow nylon fabric with black elasticised cuffs. The collar and waistband are also black elasticised synthetic fabric. Transfer-printed on the left-hand sleeve is the number '5' in black felt fabric. A sponsor's name is transfer-printed with yellow felt letters on the back of the jacket.

Historical information

This jacket probably dates from c.1984, when 'Swan Lager' was the major sponsor of the Western Australian State baseball team. It was worn by players in cooler weather prior to a game starting.

The player's number '5' on the jacket sleeve relates to Greg Harvey. Starting his baseball career playing in the Western Australian Goldfields League, Harvey went on to represent Western Australia in five Australian Claxton Shield series, from 1984 to 1988, and represented Australia at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
