Western Australian State baseball team playing top
A short-sleeved, cream-coloured Western Australian State baseball team playing top with yellow and black bands around the cuffs and neckline. The shirt has a buttoned opening with cream buttons the full length of the front panel. Appliqued in black bordered with yellow, are the letters 'WA' on the left breast and the number '7' on the right breast. The number '7' is also appliqued on the back of the shirt, along with the transfer-printed name of a sponsor, in red felt letters. Sponsors' logos are attached to the sleeves, with a black swan and the words 'Swan Lager' transfer printed on the right sleeve, and a fawn-coloured cotton patch with the word 'Camel' stitched onto the left sleeve.
This playing top dates from circa 1984 and identifies sponsors of baseball in Western Australia at that time, namely 'Camel' (cigarettes) and 'Swan Lager' (beer).
The top was worn by Greg Harvey, an inspiring Western Australian baseball player from the Goldfields, who later went on to represent Australia at the 1988 Olympics. In 2006 he was inducted into the Goldfields Sporting Hall of Fame.
