Historical information

The stamp had been postmarked by the Armadale Post Office on the 7th of September 1983. The Armadale Post Office opened on the corner of Jull Street and Commerce Avenue on the 1st of September 1898 and operated at that site until c2008 when the post office moved into the recently redeveloped Armadale Shopping City.

Australian 27c stamp franked at Armadale Post Office on the 7th of September 1983.
Example of post office practice at a time when letters were a common method of communication. Stamps were attached with the individual postmark from the post office where the letter was sent. The post mark also represents the existence of the Armadale Post office which operated on the corner of Jull Street and Commercial Avenue from the 1st of September 1898 to c2008 when the Armadale Post Office moved into then recently expanded and redeveloped Armadale Shopping City.
