METALIC SIGN - WALKING LANE

Overview

A rectangular mainly white sign with rounded corners at the top edges. Picture of blue water along the base with a wave rising towards the top with text on both sides. At the top: [CITY OF ARMADALE / WALKING / LANE / ONLY / www.armadale.wa.gov.au].

There is a white strip along the base with three holes for fixing to a stand.

Historical information

The item was acquired from the Armadale Aquatic Centre before renovations were started in 2017. The Centre was opened in December 1980. This sign was used at the outdoor pools and was used to designate which lanes were for patrons who wished to walk through the water for exercise.

Statement of significance

MEDIUM
This collection of items was used at the Armadale Aquatic Centre. The Centre was opened in December 1980 and was closed in 2017 to make way for the new Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre which was opened in 2019. These items were collected as they represent the important role played in the social life of the local community and what was involved for a local government in running a public pool.
