VASE - MADE FROM SHELL CASE [GUN]
c. 1916A) Exact provenance not known. However, the vase has been made from a World War brass shell casing. It is a slim cylindrical shape, tapering slightly towards the top. The lip at the top has been beaten out, although originally it would have turned slightly in. The base is a heavy brass disc, on which is inscribed '18 pr. 11, H.N.T, 1916 CF, 19-12-16'. This indicates that the shell was an 18 pounder, made or used in December, 1916.
B) The vase has a cylindrical inner casing, with a ring tab at top to assist in taking it from vase. The base has come away from casing.
