A black & white portrait (proof) photo of Kenneth James Orr (Ken) Stevenson who was a Toodyay Shire Councillor in 1961-1966 and previously a Road Board Member in 1947-1961.
He is seen in a dark suit jacket with shirt and tie. He has very little hair and is wearing glasses and smiling.

Historical information

Kenneth Stevenson was born in Christchurch, NZ in 1905 and died in Albany, WA in 1977. There is a memorial to him in Karrakatta Cemetery, Perth, WA.
Kenneth Stevenson migrated to Australia from New Zealand in 1928. Initially working as a farm hand at Watheroo, he leased ‘The Byeen’ at Wattening from the Butterly family in 1937, then later purchased it.
Ken was on the Committee of the Toodyay Agricultural Society in 1941-1942, just prior to enlisting in World War 2, when he served as a Lieutenant in the 9 Northam Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps.
In 1948, he was President of the Bolgart Branch of the Farmers’ Union of Western Australia.
Ken was presented with a long service certificate in recognition of 15 years' service in local government in 1962.
