Image: Oil painting by W F Stuart, copying "Girl in Blue Hat" by Rubens, painted on masonite.

It is a study of a girl in a wide brimmed feathered hat, wearing a black decollete dress with maroon sleeves. Her arms are golden and she holds the ends of a light brown shawl.

Signature: Signed 'W. F. Stuart' in lower left hand corner.

Frame: Set in gilded wooden frame.

Reverse: A very worn paper label on the reverse reads "Girl in Blue Hat (Rubens)". Grenada $3 Stamp 400th Anniversary of the birth of Peter Paul Rubens "Le Chapeau de Paille" (Ghana 8P Stamp also)

Historical information

On 16 November 1993 the Subiaco Senior Citizens Centre Board of Management agreed to donate six paintings by W.F. Stuart to the Subiaco Museum as they were interesting from an historical sense. The paintings has previously been donated by the artist to the SSCC in 1969, where they were hung in the dining room.
