HEAD DRESS: WEDDING, NETTING WITH FLOWERS
1934The head dress is in Hungarian folk style and was made in Paris. It consists of a light wire frame covered in cream net, with ruched gold coloured tulle on the upper sections. The basic shape is head-hugging, surmounted by a crest of tulle and artificial orange blossom with buds outlining the upper part of the crest. A string of rhinestones is attached to the front part of the head dress and rhinestones and blossom form a decorative small cluster on either side at ear level. The ribbons (to go under the chin) are missing. At the back of the head dress net is gathered in to form a hem.
Marion Sparkes married Frederick Sims at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Perth on 3 February 1934. After their wedding they lived in Tareena Street, Nedlands (at the time part of the Municipality of Subiaco).
