About organisation
Revolutions Transport Museum is home to the Lew Whiteman Collection - an incredible array of objects collected by Lew Whiteman and bequeathed to the WA State Government. The collection tells the story of the evolution of land transport in Western Australia and the impact it has had on the economic, social and cultural development of the state. While the main exhibition has a transport focus, the collection also contains a wide variety of items collected by Lew Whiteman during his lifetime in the area. Lew Whiteman owned, farmed and developed some of the land that now forms Whiteman Park and Revolutions aims to bring his local story to life.

Collection overview
The Whiteman Collection was established in 1998, as a bequest to the people of WA from avid collector Lew Whiteman, and through over 4000 objects it tracks the development of land-based transport across the vast state of Western Australia.
The Whiteman Collection is the only land-based transport museum in the state of Western Australia. It is a wonderfully eclectic collection, featuring holdings of carts, buggies, saddles, bicycles, tractors, waggons, tools, fibreglass model animals and much more. This collection reveals how travel continues to shape the way we live our lives and how it has changed over time. It also reflects Lew Whiteman's prolific passion for collecting and his connection to the development of Whiteman Park, the home of Revolutions Transport Museum.
Distance and isolation in Western Australia; how cars shaped Perth; personal and public transport in Perth; beasts of burden; the coming of the motor; wool transport; shearing teams; mass transit; camels; cycling; saddles and harnesses; harness animals.
The Whiteman Collection speaks of the development of land transport and the impact it has had on the lives of West Australians. It reflects on travel as a matter of necessity and for leisure, as well as how attitudes towards transport have shifted as technology and society have advanced. The collection focusses on stories of agricultural and social development, alongside the transport heritage theme.
