MURAL; PERSON IN WHEATFIELD
1994Hilda Christian is smiling at the camera as she stands in front of the mural that she is painting on the wall at Connor's Mill. Ms. Christian is wearing tan coloured jacket, brown patterned trousers and is holding a paintbrush in her right hand and a cloth in her left.
The mural depicts a male figure standing in the foreground of a wheat field, wearing a black hat, white shirt and black trousers, holding a skinny sheath of wheat. In the background behind the figure and to the right is a field of unharvested wheat, to the left is bare red earth. Blue sky above.
In the foreground of the photograph can be seen the top of the staircases balustrading. On the right of this is the outerstone wall of Connor's Mill with small windows, seemingly barred.
A late Victorian-era working flour mill display was created in Connor's Mill, Toodyay in 1994 with milling equipment donated by Weston Milling after their Northam Mill had been modernised. The machines were moved, restored and installed by volunteer labour. As a part of the project, murals were painted inside the mill.
