WWI era Soldiers' Dependents' Day enamel badge
c. 1918World War One era, oval shaped, gilt and enamel Soldiers' Dependents' Day badge.
It features a central, raised gilt profile of a marching Australian soldier with a rifle over his shoulder, surrounded by a vibrant blue enamel inlay. The outer red enamel border reads 'SOLDIERS' DEPENDENTS' DAY' in gilt lettering.
The reverse of the badge has a vertical pin clasp for attachment and the maker's name 'ANGUS & COOTE LD SYDNEY' embossed in raised lettering.
This patriotic badge was produced to raise charity funds, especially during the latter stages of World War One. Money raised went directly toward supporting the wives, children, and families of servicemen deployed overseas.
