1988 was the second time that Australia participated at the Olympic level. Competing teams were Canada, Chinese Taipei, Japan, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, South Korea, the United States and Australia. Australia was pooled with Canada, South Korea and the United States, but did not qualify for the finals.
