1988 Seoul Olympic Games Australian baseball pitcher's glove
An Australian pitcher's mitt used in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The glove is dark brown leather with brown leather thonging. The manufacturer's Mizuno brand name is printed on the leather on the front of the glove and has a stitched-on fabric maker's label on the back of the glove.
This Mizuno mitt was used by Australian pitcher Parris Mitchell (Western Australia) at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. In the opening game against Canada, John Deeble (Victoria) started, as Korea had eight left-hand hitters in their line-up. Parris came on in relief in the 7th inning with the score 7-6. Australia won the opening game.
Parris then started the game against Korea and went 10 innings but Australia lost it 2-1 in the 10th.

This glove was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by Parris Mitchell, an inaugural inductee into the Baseball WA Hall of Fame.
