Overview

Brown reinforced leather trunk with wooden braces and brass fittings. There are a number of old labels affixed to the lid. The is a handle at each end of the trunk and the large letters E.L.L

Historical information

Reverend Canon R.E. Davies migrated as a child to Australia in 1911 and settled east of Manjimup at Perup with his family. In 1934 he was appointed Rector of St Mary's Anglican Church, Busselton and served there until 1955, after which he moved to Boyanup, before retiring to Busselton.

Contextual Information

One assumes from the labels on the trunk that it was at some time owned by the Reverend Canon Davies who was the Rector at St Mary's church, Busselton and used for the collection of discarded items that were to be donated to the struggling Group Settlers.

Maybe this trunk was used in 1911 when the young Reverend Canon R.E. Davies migrated to Australia with his family.

The Reverend Canon R.E. Davies was also a skilled amateur engineer and you can see a clock and the model Jumna that he made here at the museum
