Copper and Brass Light
1901Brass cuboid potable lantern that has thick glass windows with beveled edges on 3 sides and brass on the back. Inside is a copper fuel cannister with a brass wick holder and a concave brass reflector that is mounted on the metal back. There is a circular door on the back that can be opened to polish the reflector mounted inside, refuel the fuel cannister and light the wick. The height of wick can be controlled by an external handle operated from a corner between 2 glass windows and the wick can be extinguished from a spring loaded handle activated from the top of the lamp. The lamp would have originally had a timber swing handle but this has been replaced by home made handle on the top. There are perforated ventilation plates at both the top and base edges.
