COURT HOUSE TOODYAY

Overview

Black & white photo of Court house building with dark bricks and light mortar, the lower section/verandah of building has three archways and to the right are three large arched windows. There is bare dirt and weeds in the front of the building and an unsealed road. A broken down picket fence and corrugated iron fence is to the left. To the right is another broken picket fence and a small tree. A stone and mortar wall (of a building) is visible in the far right of the image (prob remains of Convict Depot).

Historical information

The Court House was constructed in 1897. The building just seen to the right is the Toodyay Convict Depot Warders' Quarters (later the Pollice Quarters), with the Women's Gaol on this end (seen in photo). This Depot building was demolished in 1931, so this photo predates that event.
