DIARY- CURATOR AND VOLUNTEER NOTES
Blue coloured book with note stuck on cover with script [Curator and Volunteer/Notes/In & Out/] and drawing of light globe in black ink. Black border. Tape around the note. Inside are notes from Curator to volunteers.
This diary commenced in December 2002 and was used by the curator of History House Museum to facilitate communication with and amongst the volunteers. This object represents a mode of office communication that gradually fell out of use with the advent of the world wide web and e-mails. The diary was used when the museum was managed by the Armadale Kelmscott Historical Society.
The museum was opened in 1976 by the Armadale Kelmscott Historical Society, a voluntary community organisation, with the aim of preserving the history of the district. The society developed the collection, put on displays and ran numerous public programs. Over time aging volunteers, rising costs saw the society struggle with managing the museum. In 2013 ownership and management of the museum was transferred to the City of Armadale who employed a paid curator to manage the museum.
