KITCHEN DRESSER: WOODEN
1933Kitchen Dresser: Dark brown painted wooden dresser. The cupboard part (lower half) has a wooden frame and two doors with painted tin windows inserted. Inside are two shelves placed on a narrow wooden board; width is adjustable (hessian cloth). It has a flat upper surface, made out of three wooden boards placed next to one another. Above this is a case with three shelves. The upper two are narrower than the lower one and have a wooden backing and narrow wooden framed glass doors (that can be lifted) at left and right sides. The shelves are lined with newspaper which was commonly used and replaced by oil cloth as more money became available. The dresser was designed and made by a 12 year old boy in 1933 for his family.
