MEMORIAL PLAQUE: ST HUGH'S GREAT WAR MEMORIAL - WORLD WAR ONE
1924Memorial plaque: wooden French polished in pseudo memorial style. Rectangular shaped. Upper edge has an ornate carved border in lily shape. Attached to the ornate wooden arch with side pillars is a brass plate in semi-rectangular shape which bears impressed "To the Glory of God and in Grateful Remembrance of All Those who fell in the Great War 1914-1918." And underneath on small rectangular brass plates the names of lay readers and the names of those who fell in action. Underneath these on a wider copper plate: "Greater love has no man, St John XV 13." Carved on the lower board "St Hugh's." Donated by the Sunday School and erected by volunteer labour.
