Overview

Memorial plaque for the son of local resident and member of the church.

Memorial Plaque: Rectangular wooden tablet ornate pseudo medieval style, 2 kinds of wood are used. Upper edge has lily like carved border. Two pillars support the upper border and rest on a flat wooden protruding board. The tablet has an overlay of ornate darker wood carving. Fitted underneath it a rectangular brass plate which bears impressed: "In affectionate Memory of Sergt Frank Edward Crockett Killed in Action 3rd October 1918..." and inside of a laurel an embossed enamelled diamond, bottom half blue and top half white, the colour patch of the 28th Battalion, AIF., 2nd Division. On the bottom of the brass plate "Cumpstons Engraving Works, 918 Hay St. Perth:"

This tablet, the altar candlesticks & vases were placed here to the Glory of God

And in memory of the above by his parents and brothers and Mr & Mrs Cook & family

Historical information

The Memorial was carved by the deceased's father Frank Joseph Crockett, a parishoner of St Hugh's. It was moved to the Subiaco Museum when St Hugh's ceased to be an Anglican Church.

Frank E Crockett and his father Frank J Crockett may have been farmers at Nokaning and also had an address at 36 Cardigan Terrace, Jolimont.

Frank E Crockett was born in London 3/10/1897, he joined up in 1916 and was in camp on 1st March 1916, embarked on 17/4/1916, saw action on 19/10/1916 and was killed on 3/10/1918, aged 21 years.
