c. 1940Circular souvenir badge or button featuring a central greyscale image of Prince Henry on a white background.
It is made from printed paper between a tin base and celluloid cover.

There is a wide border around the button which depicts the Union Jack flag - red, white and blue.
The reverse has a metal back with a void into which a metal pin is secured for attachment. There is no maker on the button.
Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, was the third son of King George V and Queen Mary, and younger brother of Kings Edward VIII and George VI. He served as Governor-General of Australia from 1945 to 1947, the only member of the Royal Family to hold the post.
It is possible that this button was made during his time in Australia which coincided with World War Two.
