WWI souvenir button celebrating the signing of the Armistice

Overview

Circular souvenir button or badge made to celebrate the signing of the the Armistice on 11 November 1918.
It is made from printed paper between a tin base and celluloid cover.
The centre of the button is white with blue writing reading 'Armistice Signed Nov. 11. 1918'. A broad, colourful border depicts the flags of the allied nations (clockwise from top): United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, Japan, Italy, Russia, the United States of America and France, inside a thin gold band.
The rim of the button is white and has details of the maker printed on it.
The reverse has a metal back with a void into which a metal pin is secured for attachment.

Historical information

The Armistice Agreement was signed on 11 November 1918 and later became commemorated as Remembrance Day where one minute's silence is observed at 11 am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.
