1988 World Youth Series Under-19 baseball program
1988A 4-page program for the 1988 World Youth Series Under-19 baseball championship, held in Sydney, Australia. The front cover is printed in green, yellow, black and white text and images on off-white paper. A black and white drawing of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House appears at the top of the cover. Below this the letters 'WYS' are combined with elements of the Australian Baseball Federation's logo (i.e. the Southern Cross star constellation, a stylised outline of a kangaroo and a baseball). Written on the cover are the names of the competition, the city where it took place and the year date. The Australian bicentennial logo, along with logos of baseball associations and clubs and a government body appear at the bottom of the cover. The two inside pages contain images and details of the Australian baseballers and team officials. The back cover has words of welcome from two Australian sporting association executives.
The 1988 World Youth Baseball Championships was held in Sydney, Australia. Teams from the United States, Cuba, the Republic of China, Chinese-Taipei, Korea, Canada, Italy and Australia competed from December 9 to December 18.
The Auburn Baseball Club staged the Under-19 series, with all night games played there, as the only lit international standard diamond in Sydney.
Final results: Gold medal - United States defeated Cuba 8-1; Bronze medal - Chinese Taipei defeated Australia 3-0.

This program was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by the family of Alan Luscombe. Alan's career as a baseball umpire spanned local, state, national and international competition levels. He was awarded Life Membership of the West Australian Baseball Umpires Association (WABUA) in 1992.
This program includes images, names and statistics of 1988 Australian Under-19 baseball players and team officials. It has both historic and social significance and provides a source of information for researchers. It is in very good condition and comes with impeccable provenance.
