PHOTOGRAPH: KATIE SILVESTER IN FANCY DRESS, 1904
1904The black and white photograph features Katie dressed in 'Fairy' costume for a Fancy Dress ball. Handwritten inscription on back reads: 'Mother made dress of white cotton lawn-style of material. Oldest sister May Silvester embroidered sequins and beads on dress and made headband and sash belt of elaborate beading work. (May Silvester and Mr. Dingle were singing partners and often entertained at the Kings Hall.)' Dress has long sleeves cut away to represent wings. Katie wears pearl and a heart-shaped locket around her neck and slippers with bows. The photograph was taken out of doors with a background of leaves. Museum holds copy of original photograph.
