SUITCASE: LEATHER
Provenance not known. Rectangular, reddish-brown leather suitcase, with leather reinforced corners, and stitching along all edges. There are metal studs at each corner of back and base, and leather strap restraints (held by stitching and small studs) at front and back of case. The lid is held by stitching at back, and with two straps on interior surface. There are five metal fastenings (one each side, three at front), with two front ones having locks (no keys). The leather handle is held at either end by metal attachments, fastened to front of case with leather strips. The interior of case is lined with green fabric, covering a cardboard lining. On lid is a large fabric pocket, gathered at top on elastic thread. On top exterior and side surface, is blue and white paper label, with the words 'P and O - Orient Lines' and 'M'. In ink on top surface the word 'Fremantle' is printed, and the name 'Miller' is written in chalk on side.
