TELEGRAM BAG: LEATHER
Rectangular dark brown leather bag with a flap that fastens over a metal knob by means of a hole and groove in a leather tongue. Strap fastened by means of a circular metal buckle with 'Post Office Communications Australia' embossed around perimeter. Brass studs fasten strap to bag. The number '15' is painted in orange on outside of flap and B.1411 in black on inside of flap. 'PMG' stamped on front of bag, which was used by telegram boys to deliver telegrams to homes of addressees. This practice continued up to the end of the 1970s, after which telegraphic messages were phoned to addressees.
