Overview

Implement with bulbous dark brown wooden handle with three horizontal incisions across the neck. Long flat flexible blade ends in straight serrated edge. Blade is set into the handle and clamped tight by means of a narrow brass band. The manufacturer's name, 'J Dixon' is stamped on blade. Used to stuff horsehair into leather articles such as saddles. Possibly used by Otto Lipfert whose hobbies included leatherworking. Found in the Lipfert home at 270 York Street.
