Overview
A beautiful panel of horsehair embroidery from Guizhou, China. This panel probably came from a ‘festival’ jacket and one usually made by the mother or grandmother for the ‘coming of age’ for their daughter/granddaughter of the Miao ethnicity.
Many of these panels were made and constructed into a jacket. The white ‘band’ of ‘horse hair’ wrapped in thread surrounding the knot centres.
