Being a prefect at BSHS is great. We get this cool lunch line all to ourselves as well as note writing privileges and camps. When we rocked up at school for our prefect camp it was a little scary. There was such a diversity of kids. Some who we really had never got to know before. But it didn't take long. In no time we were great friends and this helped us in surviving the rest of the camp.
Prefect camp wasn't just sleeping, swimming and relaxing. Oh no! We were on a mission. Our mission was to bond with each other, work out each other's strengths and weaknesses and make a start on what we were going to do for our school next year.
But along with the hard work did come lots of fun. Our early morning starts were just one of the many...(joking!) No really it wasn't that bad. Getting up early only meant we got to fit in more things during the day. Like horse riding with those crazy horses that just wouldn't stay on the track, water skiing and of course spotlight where everybody joined in.
But we can't forget canoeing and Moldie's disappearing shorts even though I'm sure we'd like to. It wasn't just each other we got to know, we also learnt a lot about Mr Ryder and his bus driving abilities. I'm sure going over a cliff wasn't on the itinerary! But we survived and each time his reversing got just that bit better.
Miss Jones also came along and between her games and skiing we wouldn't have wanted to be with out her. There was one thing that really kept us going and that was our food. Well what we had until the boys ate it all. Our big feasts each night still weren't enough to keep them going. Dinner at the girls' was a bad idea because they ate everything including our food for the rest of the camp.
When Friday came and we arrived back at the school, I'm sure it didn't matter about our food since we were all too tired to even think. Even our exam results didn't seem to matter. It was sad to say goodbye, as it would be 8 weeks before we would see some of the troupe again.
