Historical information

From the first day we all came together we knew we were going to be best friends for life. Well, not quite, but on behalf of the 2007 prefects, I’ve found we’ve all got on rather brilliantly.

One big factor in that was our little adventures on the Prefect Camp earlier in the year. We took the bus to Karridale to confront challenges such as high ropes, abseiling and an amazing 40m freefall into a collapsed cave. We cooked our meals, toasting marshmallows, charcoaling sausages on our homemade fire and choking on rations (courtesy of Mr Mazzella) we discovered were 5 years out of date! We also got together to form ideas on future projects to tackle throughout the year. It was an excellent way to get to know and trust each other, and we found ourselves chatting away ‘til the early morn. Big thumbs up to the staff at Karridale who were huge support and help.

One project we discussed was the school ball. A committee was formed and included Janelle, Ralph, Mel, Emily and Kayle, with some additional input from Jo, and each person put in a massive effort. It was hard work but the results were great - the Italian Club was transformed into “All That Jazz” and all the little details were considered to top off the night. I must say all the Year 11s and 12s certainly spruced up nicely. Many thanks to all who helped put the ball together and played a contribution.

Following the ball, the prefects were given the opportunity to join the Anzac March. We all dressed in the prefect uniform and even gained some praise for our “impressive appearance”! It was quite a long morning, but well organised, with many Bunbury people attending the service. When the service was over, the troop was treated to some Hungry Jacks’ for lunch - thanks to some arm twisting from Scott. Classy!

Our own school also paid its respects at our own Anzac assembly. Thanks to the students for remaining well behaved throughout the assembly, and representing the school positively for our guests. There has also been the Country Week assembly, as well as Red Nose Day and an Amnesty International collection. There have also been side projects that will be followed through by next year’s prefects. We are also glad to present the school with new banners to use for events such as Country Week in the up and coming years.

Recently, we were also pleased to be a part of the Arts Festival. Thanks to the organisation from Mr Reynolds and Ms Winwood, our school was able to invite primary school students to explore the school and learn about our art programs. This festival was a first-off, but we believe it was a success! There were a range of great acts from music, drama and dance students, as well as workshops for the younger visitors to take part in. It would be great to see the Arts Festival get bigger in the coming years!

Lastly, soon to come is Graduation for the Year 12 students. We hope that it becomes a night to remember for everyone. Good luck to students with up and coming exams, as well as students who are at an end of their school days! Thank you to Mr Mazzella, our Year Coordinator, for his support. The prefects have most definitely enjoyed their role in the school this year - now to move on to 2008!
